60's in January

This week the weather has been all over the place!  60's on Monday and snow and 20's the rest of the week.   Crazy KS weather!
Monday was a legal holiday to observe New Year's Day.   Joe was home and we wanted to get in some family time.

Joe is crazy about cutting/splitting firewood!  The big girls helped him split some logs behind the house and then we moved up to one of Grandpa Merle's fields that Joe plants milo on.   An old cottonwood tree had fallen on the farm ground, so Joe cut it up for firewood and cleaned up the field.  Brynlee and Daisy thought the chainsaw was too loud and stayed in the pickup.  We filled the trailer with cut wood and then went exploring.

In the middle of the milo field is this sunken area full of trees, fallen trees and a carpet of leaves.   It was like a different world in there.  The girls climbed like it was a playground.

The afternoon was so nice that we decided to plan out some yard work projects for the spring, but then we had the great idea to get started.   We want to clean up the weeds around the trampoline and rock the area.   Joe burnt off some of the dry grass.  At one point, we got a little nervous!  The fire was spreading fast in both directions.😳🔥.  After moving firewood and rock, my arms were about to fall off!   We finished off the beautiful day with burgers on the grill and had Joe's parents over for supper.   Makes me excited for summer!!!
