Forgotten...

I have been on yet another blogging vacation apparently!  I keep having a problem with BlogSpot.  Are any other bloggers having a problem adding pics and then not being able to type captions in between them?  Well I have to get back to the blogging world!  So many pictures not captured online for the annual Blog2Print book and of course so many funny stories from the little Murphy's!  So I have been debating...start from today and blog backwards or start where I left off (that was like April!).  So there might be some of this and some of that, so hold on!  :-)

It is Labor Day weekend and opening weekend of K-state Football.  Joe left Thursday afternoon to head to Manhattan to meet up with friends for golfing and the Friday night game.  The girls (pictures at the top!) wore their purple today to support the Cats!  Joe will be gone all weekend, so we have plan on spending lots of time outside playing, working on some painting projects and eating meals like last nights Peanut Butter sandwiches and pretzels!

Last night, we made Liquid Sidewalk Chalk and the girls painted the sidewalk!  It looks like amazing bright colors, paints on almost clear and drys like chalky pastels!  Crazy!  It was made with 1cup cornstarch, 1 cup water and a few drops of food coloring.  I mixed up a double batch (WAY too much!) and divided it out into the muffin pan.  Then we added the food coloring.  Brynlee is a CRAZY double dipper while painting so she made new colors right away!  Brynlee also painted the cat Cupcake yellow and her own belly!  She got into the painting just as much as the big girls did!  We are having a little friend over to play tomorrow morning and hope to make up more paint and use bigger brushes this time!

I have been trying some new recipes and one of our favs was Skillet Chicken Parm!  Super, super easy since I had chicken cooked and cubed in the freezer already!

Another GREAT recipe was for Chewy Butterfinger Cookies!  This recipe makes a small batch (not even 2 dz), so I would double it next time!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Colorado Family Trip Day #1

Image
Well I haven't blogged in years, but have missed it so much!  Life is crazy and I want to be able to look back at all the fun we have had.  Last week, we headed to the mountains in Cuchara, CO.  We have vacationed with Joe's family to this tiny town since Molly was our only Murphy grandkid (now there are 8!). We left early Wednesday morning and we are beyond thankful that we have such great little travelers!  We made it 4 hours with NO stops.  That's amazing for all of us! Everyone beat us out there.  So we had a warm welcome from Doug, Ben & Tracy (Parker -3 and Evie 1) and Grandma Candy and Papa Tom. The cabin has a giant deck that we spend most of our time on.  There is nothing better than a cup of coffee in the morning out in the cool mountain air. Evie is now walking everywhere and smiles all the time.  It took some warming up to us, but we all won her over (until her parents were around, then she wanted them)....

Family Fun Night

Image
The other night the girls planned a Family Fun night for us!  We played air hockey (I won!), sang karaoke and watched some shows.  I asked the girls what they wanted to eat at the Family Fun night.  They said Hot Wings!   Lol.  Our neighbors (Dale Family Farms) sells their beef, pork and chicken from their shop at the farm.  It's so convenient to run down the road and get some wings.  Joe seasons them up with some olive oil and seasoning salt.  Grills them and dips them a few times in a mixture of Frank's Wing Sauce and butter.   I finish them under the broiler to crisp up the skin.  The wings we get at DFF are big and meaty!   I roasted some potatoes and cut up some fruit to go with our hot wings.  I should say that they are not too spicy at all.  It's always fun to eat downstairs since I'm a stickler for only eating at the dining room table or at the bar! It is fun that the girls still enjoy our company! I know th...
