Fair Week

Last week was the week of the Comanche County Fair.  I love fair week.  It means that there are activities every night of the week and lots of people come back for it!  We have things going on 3 nights out of the week with work at the fair.  Farm Bureau is always active at the county fairs.  Monday night we sponsor the Pedal Pull.  Little kids get on these pedal tractors and see how far they can pedal.  The older the kids the more weight is added to the back.  This was the first year that Molly could do this.  We talked it up big!!!   I was afraid she would back out and not do it.  Well I was right!  She walked down the starting line with me but when it was time to get on the tractor she turned and clung to my leg.  Oh well, maybe next year!

Thursday night was the Kids Carnival at the Fair.  Local businesses set up games for the kids to play and win prizes.  In years past we have done face painting, given out popcorn, blown up balloons for the kids, etc.  This year we handed out 170 root beer floats and gave out balloons.  It was so hot that night, the floats were a hit!  Molly played a few games and won some prizes and candy.  Ellie didn't play too many games, but she did get a sucker and was happy with that!  Thursday night there was some rodeo events going on, so we went over to the arena and watched the team roping for awhile.  Ellie kept talking about the "Moo's" going down when the guys roped them.  She is a big fan of the Moo's and the GiddyUps, as she calls horses!  Molly has been telling us that she wants to ride horses (by herself, not with someone!).  So I told the Smith boys that and JD and Ty both offered to let her ride with them or they would help her ride by herself, but she bashfully declined.  Not sure if she didn't want to ride or just not with the boys!

Friday night we had house full of friends over!  Brian Lohrding and his family was in town from Lubbock, TX some other high school friends of Joe's and their families came over to visit.  At one time we had 7 little kids over and Molly was the oldest and my girls were the only girls!  Hope the little boys didn't mind playing with dollhouses and baby dolls!  Lol  The girls had a fun time with all of our little friends!  The Woolfolks and the Leepers stayed for dinner and then us adults headed to Ashland for the Stoney LaRue concert!  It was a great time!  The girls stayed the night with Grandpa and Grandma since the concert didn't get over until 1am. Oh and Aunt Gracie came and went to the concert with us too!!!  We love when she comes to visit!

Saturday night was the last night of the fair, Farm Bureau does a Watermelon Feed and gives away slice after slice of ice cold watermelon.  We stayed for the 4-H auction, where Ellie raised her hand to bid on a steer.  Don't worry, she didn't win the bid!  I shook my head "No" at the auctioneer as the crowd was laughing at her!  The girls had a hard time setting through the entire auction so Gracie and I took them over to the playground at the fair grounds and let them play.  After the auction got done, the dance started.  Molly was excited that her little friend Natalie was there to dance with and when asked Ellie said she wanted to dance with Molly but then climbed back up my leg.  The sun when down and the band was really good!  Molly danced and danced.  We were able to set right by the dance floor and Ellie finally got down and slowly made her way out to Molly.  The rest is history!  Our girls danced and danced the night away.  Around 11pm, Ellie was stumbling on her own feet and finally laid down on the dance floor.  It was time to put the little dancers to bed.  We headed home!

Sunday, Gracie stayed and went with us to the pool and we took Molly to Toy Story 3.  That movie was pretty scary for a 4 year old.  But the popcorn and pop was worth it!  Lol  Molly loves going to the movie "feeater" as she calls it.  Lol
