Weekend in Tulsa
Last weekend, we headed to Tulsa, OK to help celebrate Uncle Doug's 30th birthday! Joe entire family came down! That made 13 people!!! 4 of those were kiddos (2- 3year olds and 2- 1 1/2yr olds!). We left town Friday night after work. After a long day already the girls were not too excited about being strapped in carseats for 4 hours. Ellie screeched at us for the first 2 hours, then we stopped at Wendy's in Enid for dinner and to stretch our legs. Thankfully, Ellie napped the rest of the trip. We finally got to Tulsa around 10pm. Grandma Candy met us at the front door of the hotel to take the girls up to their room and we parked and unloaded the car. Jen and Jake arrived shortly after us and we met Ben, Jessica and Doug down at the bar before heading to bed!
Saturday morning started with breakfast at the hotel. I thought if breakfast told us anything about what our day was to hold, we should have went back to bed! Lol It was bad service and the food took forever. But thankfully, the rest of the day was GREAT! The girls and kids headed for shopping and the guys went to the casino and to Doug's house. We hit Utica Square first. This outdoor shopping center was full of great shops, boutiques, restaurants and beautifully landscaped! Next we went to The Cheesecake Factory for a late lunch. Then to the Woodland Hills Mall. My main goal for shopping that day was to get Molly a summer wardrobe! Ellie is pretty much set for the summer with Molly's clothes. Ellie needed new shoes and sandals. We found all sorts of new stuff for Molly. She was a great sport about having to try on almost everything I bought her. She is in between toddler and youth sizes right now. Just depends on the stores. She was super excited about a green tube dress with a halter tie we found at the Gap! She wears it with a pair of my heels, lol! All the little girls were SO good! No meltdowns, even with no naps until 5:00! I know we were all worn out, especially pregnant Aunt Jen!
The girls at American Eagle waiting on Grandma Candy to check out. We had 4 adults and 4 kids. Don't know what we will do next year when Jen's baby is here. We will be outnumbered!
Ellie at the mall, watching the carousel horses go around. Brooke and Jessica rode the "princess horse"!
After shopping and a nap, we went to Osaka Japanese Steakhouse. We all sat around a big cooktop and they cooked our meal infront of us.
Tom and Candy at dinner. Did I mention it was their 34th wedding anniversary that day too?? Happy Anniversary!
Ben, Jessica and Brooke waiting for our food
Molly mastered using her chopsticks! Yes,that is a Skittle. The kids were getting restless after the 45 minute wait to be seated, so I was using my bag of tricks (aka Diaper Bag) to keep them calm. No wonder my girls didn't eat much, they had candy as an appetizer. Molly did like the soup and fried rice! Ellie didn't eat much of anything ,except G-ma Candy's ice cream and the chow mein noodles from my salad! Lol
Sunday we slept in a bit and got up and packed. We left the same time Ben, Jessica and Brooke and Tom and Candy left. So we headed out of Tulsa and stopped at a little diner west of Tulsa for breakfast . This place reminded me of Don's. Nice and clean, good food and the waitresses knew all the regulars in there by name. Made us feel right at home! :-) After breakfast, we told everyone good bye and headed home. For a 4 hours drive, there are only a few place to stop along the way. The girls were napping through Enid, so we kept going. Then in Wynoka, the annual Rattlesnack Hunt was getting over and it was kind of a scary crowd there so we kept driving. So our drive home was a 4 hour "non stop flight" as Joe and Ben would say. The girls napped alot of it and were happier this trip. We were all glad to get home, but had a fun weekend. Tulsa seems like a really nice town! Can't wait to go back!
